Renewable energy: a contextualization of the biomass as power supply

Abstract

The actual environmental problems, caused mainly by emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG's) from the burning of fossil fuels, especially used for power generation and transport sector, are worrying the whole world. The search for alternative sources in the energy matrix and cleaner fuels is increasing, and one of the main alternatives is biomass. Brazil has a great potential for this energy revolution. This study consists of an empirical and qualitative research approach, which used as a tool literature review through exploratory research. In this research, it was evident that Brazil really has a great potential in respect to different energy sources, especially renewable sources.
