ANÁLISE INTEGRADA E PROBLEMAS SOCIOAMBIENTAIS DA BACIA HIDROGRÁFICA DO BACANGA, SÃO LUÍS - MA

Resumen

Among the main hydrographic basins in the municipality of São Luís, Bacanga stands out. The basin corresponding to 12.33% of the city's territory, where approximately 64,000 households and approximately 256,000 inhabitants are located. This article intends to present a reflection based on the main socio-environmental studies related to the various problems in the Bacanga basin. To this end, several studies were compiled coordinated by the UFMA Science and Environmental Planning Laboratory. The analysis corroborated with the perspective of the socio-environmental complexity of the Bacanga basin, a territorial unit that overlaps state conservation units, such as the Bacanga State Park and the Maracanã Environmental Protection Area, with other protected areas such as the Forest Reserve Zone of the Get out. However, it contrasts with a population diversity of urban, rural and / or riverside characteristics that are subject to a historical process of administrative interference in the scope of territorial and environmental management. Among the main problems identified, irregular occupations and the lack of sanitation stand out. The current scenario in the Bacanga basin directly reflects on the quality of life of people, especially those with less purchasing power and who live on the subsistence of natural resources in the basin region and its immediate surroundings
